Using animals in research is not a matter of course, and Laboratory Animal Science aims to contribute to that animal-based research is carried out in the best possible way at the least possible cost to the welfare of the animals. Our research group is engaged in both research and training and we • Develop research into laboratory rodent behaviour and welfare • Develop research into laboratory rodent anaesthesia • Are involved in collaboration projects over the ethics of animal research and technology • Engage in teaching and information activities in laboratory animal science and animal welfare Our work is guided by the principle of the 3Rs - Reduction, Replacement, Refinement.
